Singapore celebrates it's national day every August 9.This year Singapore celebrates it's 49 th b'day and the theme is "Our people, Our Home,NDP 2014".So July-August is birthday month and you can see whole range of celebrations throughout the nation and a big birthday bash in the form of NDP. National Day parade(NDP) is held every Aug 9.This year it is held at Marina Bay, the floating platform .It will be the last year it is held in this venue as the next year, it will held in Kallang's new stadium built recently.As Marina Bay is a open place, even though you don't get tickets to be seated in the seating gallery, we can still watch it live from other parts of Marina Bay, like Esplanade, near Merlion Park or from the tall buildings in CBD or even from the big hotels around the area and even from Flyer.August 9 sees heavy crowd of people decked up in red and white in almost all these places.But we were fortunate enough to witness the NDP NE show meant for school children 3 -4 weeks before the actual day .
We went to Marina Bay 2 weeks back thinking of watching river festival, but instead watched NDP NE show from the steps of Esplanade.It was quite a surprise for us.We had good view of the parade from there itself.We enjoyed the whole show seated outside the float including fireworks.Some (great) pictures from that.
The whole city is dressed up for the national day celebrations.Buildings are dressed up.cars are dressed up and even cycles.As national day arrives, you can see red and white everywhere.Adults, kids also dress themselves in red and white to immerse in the environment.Some for your view:
