Sec 1 so far

It's first week of February and Arshi has been in her sec school for almost a month now .She is enjoying her school and glad she has got few friends from her primary school in this school too and has made new friends too .They had orientation programs as well as day camp  ease the students into the new school .The number of subjects have increased and we have little clue about how we will manage this new change. She is quite adapting to her new school be it travelling in bus ,waking up early morning or the typically long hours in school  etc .After her CCAs bsessiojd are going to start pretty soon ,her typical school hours are going to be even. Much longer than now and hope god gives her strength to manage her school life .school bags are quite heavy as her current class doesn't have locker and she prefers to carry her school stuff daily and kids should carry books according to their timetable too .it's not like primary school where we need not look at the timetable and pack all stuff or put majority of your school stuff in your locker .sec school teaches lot of time management as well as responsibility to the kids and it's a good thing that they learn it in school. It's just like yesterday that she joined her school. School and this month MID she has her exams starting .Though they don't have CA1 and SA1 ,they do have weighted assessment per term that is considered for the overall results for the year .So far she seems to understand what her teachers teach .We are now struck over her CCA choice and she has to submit her 5 choices this Friday . CCAs play a big role in a sec school students life as they take it for 4 years and it's apart from their regular academic stuff.LEAP 2 0 is a big thing to consider while choosing our CCA as many kids will want to get that 2 points and to get those 2 points you need lot of hardworking and commitment towards your respective CCA .So it's better to choose a CCA which the kids like and Arshi is struck between 2-3 CCAs .I just pray God guides her in this .Next week we have her skin Dr appointment and hope everything goes well for her .her skin condition is also hindering a few CCA choices as we are afraid of constant sun exposure and heavy make up .This year these kids are also going to participate in NDP and her rehearsal are going to start this week . Though it's going to be very hectic and gruelling ,just hope the kids will enjoy it as it's a honour to participate in such great platform .Hope arshi stays healthy and abke to commit towards that .
P.s _ I chanced upon this draft that I had typed in Feb just now and am posting it .hehehe sometimes I forget to even finish up my post .Her CCA dilemma has gone and she has been going for her drama cca .2 WA over by now when I am typing this and her NDP training too going on .Read my latest post .You will know .

Arshi new school

Arshi has been going to Temasek Secondary School from this Jan and she has been enjoying the journey so far. It's quite near to our house and has direct bus to her school. HER routine after going to this school has changed drastically. I have noticed that she has developed  more discipline and punctuality  here than her primary school which was a stone's throw from our house .She wakes up pretty early, gets ready and comes pretty late that her primary school .I see this as her learning and growing up phase .Her subjects have also increased from mere 5 subjects to 8 plus subjects and arts and music being graded and counted for final assessments. SECONDARY  SCHOOL LIFE IS ENTIRELY  A NEW JOURNEY ALTOGETHER .So far she has finished 2 WAs and her scores have come and they are ok .There are room for improvement  and hope Arshi bugs up in months to come and catches up with her weaker subjects .I am amazed that she has dropped in science which was one of her strong subjects when she was in her primary school and she still continues to struggle with Maths .There are many new subjects like English literature  ,history, geography which are ending taught Nd grades and I feel that teaching in TMS is pretty good and they give good notes too for the students .The school I feel this year followed by moe recommendation  of scrapping SA1 for sec 1 has taken it seriously and I fond that arshi is indeed quite relaxed. She has taken Drama as her CCA and has to stay long for twice a week for that. Here all students should take any compulsory  CCA.She has also taken Higher Tamil Nd hope will sail through it successfully. Her school is also participating in this year's  NDP and Arshi will be part of a dancing segment .Rehearsals are going for that these days she goes for Saturday NDP training too .Looking forward for the kid's amazing performance this Aug 9.
So far Sec 1 seems smooth sailing with no major issues. Just want  her to do daily revisions of the lessons taught and periodically revising older topics .She hardly revises as I see her do her homework  and rarely revise if exams aren't round the corner .And if she revises  she will be revising for few days and then again be carefree bird .Consistent study and revision is something that she needs to keep in as her routine .
